Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) (Pot of 60 capsules)

£10.99

Product Information:

Methylcobalamin is a naturally occurring form of Vitamin B12; one of the two biologically active forms found in the cells of the body. Methylcobalamin contributes to the formation of proteins and lipids, the synthesis of RNA and DNA for cell reproduction, and the support of the immune system.

A healthy balanced diet should quite easily provide enough vitamin B12. However, B12 is only present in animal products so vegetarians, and vegans in particular, may lack a good natural source.

Where it is difficult to obtain the required quantity of B12 a supplement may help to maintain normal body function. This is the case even where there are problems of absorption through the normal digestive processes.

One dose provides 1,000µg methylcobalamin. This is about 400 times the RDA, but provides for situations where the body is not able to absorb vitamin B12 through the normal active route. Up to about 1% of ingested B12 is absorbed through passive low-level diffusion in the intestine. Excess methylcobalamin is excreted harmlessly; there are no known harmful effects from reasonably high doses of vitamin B12.

Because 1,000 µg (1mg) of methylcobalamin is a very small quantity our capsules also contain wood cellulose filler, simply to make the capsules convenient to take.
