This is one of the most important “good bacteria” which is found naturally in the body, typically in the digestive tract and the vagina. It is one of the first to colonise the sterile gut of newborn and breast fed babies. This “good “bacteria is usually found in cheese, yogurt and fermented dairy products, and as higher doses in supplements. “Good” bacteria are important for good immunity. B Longum transforms the sugars in the gut into lactic acid and acetic acid that decrease the intestinal pH, which can inhibit “bad or undesirable” bacteria.
