Full product descriptionInulin is a natural complex carbohydrate, an oligosaccharide, belonging to the fructans group and found in 36,000 species of plants. It is a soluble dietary fibre, but non-digestible passing through the small intestine for fermentation by the bacteria in the large intestine. Inulin is naturally occurring in wheat, onions and garlic, bananas, asparagus and chicory Inulin is considered a FODMAP and some people who are sensitive to these foods should introduce slowly as a food or prebiotic for the colonic bacteria As the carbohydrate remains undigested, it does not elevate blood sugar. This inulin is derived from chicory and is commonly given at the same time as supplementing with probiotics, to provide nourishing food for optimal growth of the good bacteria.
