Vitamin and nutrient deficiencies on the rise

The UK’s latest National Diet and Nutrition Survey, as reported by NutraIngredients, has found that there has been a significant rise in deficiencies in key nutrients amongst the population.

The report took information from diet diaries, blood and urine samples as well as interviews and looked at the results of a nine-year period between 2008 and 2017. The report found that, while intakes of most vitamins and minerals have declined in most groups of people, especially folate and vitamin A, a reduction of iron was most prevalent in women and girls.

It is important to ensure you are getting the right levels of all essential vitamins and minerals to support a normal, healthy lifestyle.
