Histidine is an essential amino acid found in most cells in the body. It is found in meat, wheat and dairy. It is the precursor of histamine and carnosine and is important in the formation of the myelin sheath (the fatty, protective sheath surrounding nerve cells). Histidine also participates in heavy metal detoxification through the liver and kidneys and like all constituents of protein; is needed for growth and repair.

Histidine is important as the body uses it to manufacture Histamine. Histamine causes swelling and reddening in inflammations and allergic reactions and is also involved in the production of red and white blood cells. Histidine levels have also been shown to be low in people with rheumatoid arthritis.

Metabolics Histidine provides the daily requirement of this essential amino acid.

Suggested dose: 1 capsule per day with food.
