Evening Primrose oil is a source of the fatty acids linoleic acid (LA) and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA). GLA that is taken as a supplement is converted into DGLA, a substance that fights inflammation. GLA is essential for the production of hormone like substances called prostaglandins. It is important to ensure that the body has enough zinc, magnesium, vitamins B3, B6 and Vitamin C.
GLA is found in Evening Primrose seeds, safflower and sunflower oils. It is also found n high concentrations in breast milk.
