Bee Propolis is “Bee Glue”. It is a sticky, brown substance that bees use to fill cracks and line their hives. Bees collect tree resin from cracks in bark and the buds of trees, which they then chew and add beeswax to.
This product has recently been reformulated as a more concentrated extract than used in the previous formulation. This is why there is less extract delivered in one capsule than previously. As it is now a 5:1 extract it equates to approximately 1.3 g Bee propolis. The previous product was a 3:1 extract, which equates to about 1 g bee propolis starting material. The raw material is also formulated using Di Calcium Phosphate, Silicon Dioxide and Natural caramel, all shown on the label.
Analysis shows that on average propolis contains:
- 55% resin and balsam
- 30% beeswax and oils
- 5% pollen
- 5% amino acids + caffeic acid phenethyl ester
- Vitamins and minerals including Magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, beta carotene, vitamin B1, B2 and bioflavonoids.
