Betaine HCl

Betaine Hydrochloride is betaine bound to Hydrochloric acid. Hydrochloric acid is naturally produced in the stomach and aids digestion of proteins by denaturing the protein and making it easier for the enzyme pepsin to break it down further. Hydrochloric acid is also important to kill off harmful microorganisms that may enter the stomach from food and aid the absorption of calcium, vitamin B12 and Iron. The production of stomach acid decreases as we age.
