Active ingredients first
A clean shell, filled with what you came for.
A capsule has one job: to hold the active ingredient. So we use high-quality vegetable capsules and keep what goes in them simple.
Capsules and softgels
Three kinds of shell, and we'll tell you which is which.
Most of our range comes in vegetable capsules. Oils need a softgel, and those vary, so it is worth knowing what yours is made of.
Softgels
Gelatin softgels
Some of our oils use a softgel made with bovine or fish gelatin. The source is always named in the ingredients, so you know exactly what you are taking.

Softgels
Vegetarian softgels
Other softgels use a plant-based shell made from modified starch and carrageenan instead of gelatin, so there is no animal source in the shell.

We are very careful about what goes into a capsule.
The shell is only part of it. Everything inside has to earn its place too.

Raw materials come only from suppliers we have approved, each with a Certificate of Analysis.
- 02Every ingredient identity tested
We check that what arrives is what it should be before it goes anywhere near a capsule.
- 03Independently tested batches
Batches are checked by independent ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories.

What capsule sizes does Metabolics use?
We use five capsule sizes: size 00 (23.4mm by 8.6mm), size 0 (21.6mm by 7.6mm), size 1 (19.4mm by 6.7mm), size 2 (17.6mm by 6.4mm) and size 4 (14.3mm by 5.3mm).
How big is a size 00 capsule?
A size 00 capsule is 23.4mm long and 8.6mm wide, about as long as a £1 coin is wide. It is the largest capsule we use.
How big is a size 0 capsule?
A size 0 capsule is 21.6mm long and 7.6mm wide, close to the width of a 20p coin.
What is the smallest capsule you use?
Size 4 is our smallest capsule, at 14.3mm long and 5.3mm wide.
Are Metabolics capsules vegetarian?
